CO2 Separation Using a Sonic Nozzle Flow and Ion-Induced Nucleation

TTTomoya Tamadate

Key Points

  • This research explores the potential of ion-induced nucleation for gas component separation processes, specifically targeting CO2.
  • Modeling the adsorption and desorption process of vapor molecules on ion surfaces using queue theory.
  • Comparing molecular dynamics simulation results with theoretical models under low vapor pressure conditions.
  • Conducting molecular simulations with a single ammonium ion in CO2-N2 gas mixtures to analyze nanocluster formation behavior.
  • Successful formation and growth of CO2 nanoclusters through ion-induced nucleation even in the absence of homogeneous nucleation.
  • Good agreement between theoretical models and empirical observations under low vapor pressure conditions.
