The present study examined the relationship between social competence and academic achievement of secondary school students. The study adopted the normative survey method. A sample of 150 secondary school students from Thodupuzha Taluk of Idukki District, Kerala, was selected using the stratified random sampling technique based on gender. Academic achievement was measured using students’ Higher Secondary Board Examination marks obtained from the State Board Examination conducted in the year 2025. Social competence was assessed using the Social Competence Scale developed and standardized by the investigator. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation was employed for the analysis of data. The findings revealed that there exists a significant positive relationship between social competence and academic achievement of secondary school students. The study also found significant positive relationships between social competence and academic achievement among both male and female students. The study highlights the importance of developing social competence for improving students’ academic performance and overall development.
