Abstract

Background: To compare the effects of oxycodone and sufentanil on the quality of recovery after laparoscopic total hysterectomy. Methods: Ninety patients scheduled for laparoscopic total hysterectomy between January and December 2023 were randomly divided into 2 groups: oxycodone group (Group O) and sufentanil group (Group S), with 45 patients in each group. The primary outcome measure was postoperative recovery status recorded using the Quality of Recovery-40 questionnaire. Results: At 24 hours postoperatively, the Quality of Recovery-40 scores of group O and group S were comparable (170 156–179, 160 146–178, P = .111). There were no statistically significant differences between the 2 groups in terms of visual analogue scale pain scores at any postoperative time points, postoperative cumulative sufentanil consumption, length of hospital stay, patient satisfaction, and incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting, and incidence of postoperative dizziness ( P > .05). Conclusions: Oxycodone and sufentanil provide comparable postoperative recovery after total laparoscopic hysterectomy.
