Background : Diabetes mellitus (DM) in cats is commonly seen in primary care practice and presents several clinical and practical challenges to owners and vets. In recent years feline DM has seen paradigm shifts in management and monitoring. Aim of the article : In this second article of a series on feline DM, we look at the monitoring options that are available, how to choose between them and how to manage patients effectively. We also discuss the management of DM with concurrent conditions. Part 1 of this series discussed the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of feline DM (IP, May 2026, vol 48, pp 199‐208). The management of feline DM is undergoing a revolution and there are still many unanswered questions. Future studies may change how we currently use the various treatment options.
