Using the character of Jenny Curran from Forrest Gump as a philosophical case study, this essay explores the distinction between contingent goods and the deeper center around which a life is organized. Through the metaphor of orbit and return, it argues that movement, experience, and self-reinvention can become substitutes for the crossing through which a person finally enters the truth of their own life.
