ABSTRACT The experiment was conducted in the seedling nursery of IFES Campus Santa Teresa, using a randomized block design with six treatments and four replications of 25 seeds. The objective was to evaluate the effect of pre-germination treatments on vinhático seeds, namely: immersion for 60 minutes in: natural water (26°C) as a control; gibberellin solution at 1000 mg.L-1, 2000 mg.L-1, 3000 mg.L-1 and 4000 mg.L-1, ice water (0ºC), hot water (100ºC), NaCl solution 9 g.L-1; This study investigated the effects of a 50 g.L-1 KCl solution, coconut water, and orange juice, and subjected to freezing for 6 hours (-10ºC), then refrigeration for 24 hours (10ºC). The plants were then sown in 150 mL tubes in commercial substrate. The impact of six different commercial substrates—Biomix, Carolina Soil, Bioplant, Maxfertil, and Mogifertil—compared to soil (control) on the initial development of vinhático plants was also evaluated. The variables assessed were percentage of emergence, emergence speed index, mean emergence time, number of leaves, plant height, stem diameter, root length, and fresh and dry mass of the aerial part, stem, and roots.
