Abstract

The primary purpose of this study was to learn about the different ways former student-athletes dealt with their transitions out of sport and what resources they felt influenced them during that time in either a positive or negative way. Data was collected from nine former student-athletes, from seven different Autonomy 4 institutions who graduated in either 2023 or 2024. From the results, the student-athletes transitions were based on a variety of different factors and some handled it a lot better than others. My hope is that the advice these former student-athletes gave to future student-athletes as well as administrators will make a difference on those who will be following in the same footsteps as them.
