Digital literacy has emerged as a critical requirement in the 21st century,particularly for developing nations like India. With increasing digitizationin governance, education, health, and commerce, digital literacy servesas a bridge to inclusive growth. This paper investigates the current statusof digital literacy in India, examines government initiatives such asPMGDISHA, evaluates disparities across rural-urban and socioeconomiclines, and identifies major barriers, including infrastructuregaps, gender inequality, and lack of awareness. Drawing upon secondarydata, government reports, and academic literature, the study exploreshow digital literacy is being integrated into various sectors and its impacton employment, education, and empowerment. The paper concludes withpolicy recommendations to enhance digital literacy and promote digitalinclusion in India.
