Key Points

  • The research aims to define brand governance and introduce the MVB OS as a solution to governance failures in brand management.
  • Introduced the Minimum Viable Brand Operating System (MVB OS) framework.
  • Defined Brand Governance as a new category relevant to branding.
  • Outlined the roles of decision control and governed execution in brand coherence.
  • MVB OS is proposed as a solution to address brand governance failures.
  • It treats brand coherence as a fundamental property of decision-making processes.
  • The system is positioned as a modular governance runtime focused on productization.

Abstract

This working paper introduces MVB OS — Minimum Viable Brand Operating System — as an AI-native framework for brand decision governance. The central thesis is that many forms of brand failure are not primarily creative or executional failures, but governance failures at the perceptual and decision level. In AI-mediated environments, brand outputs can be generated and distributed faster than organizations can govern them. MVB OS addresses this risk by treating brand coherence as an infrastructural property: the result of decisions that are structured, validated, remembered, audited, and governed before execution. The paper defines Brand Governance as a distinct category, introduces the Minimum Viable Brand as a governance threshold, and presents MVB OS as a Brand Governance Operating System for strategic continuity, diagnostic gating, decision control, and governed execution. MVB OS is described as a proprietary local-first modular governance runtime in productization, not as a fully industrialized enterprise cloud SaaS. The paper establishes the conceptual foundations of the system while preserving proprietary implementation details.
