Research aimed at enhancing human motor performance in virtual reality (VR) has gained increasing attention in recent years. This study quantitatively measured perceptual thresholds for changes in the motion gain of virtual hands using the psychophysical method of constant stimuli. Across ten participants, the 84% detection thresholds were 1.24 for gain expansion and 0.77 for gain shrinkage, indicating nearly symmetric sensitivity around a gain of 1.0. These results suggest that humans exhibit comparable perceptual sensitivity to both expansion and reduction of movement gains, providing a fundamental reference for manipulating motor behavior implicitly and naturally in VR environments.
