Miscorrection Risk in Motion Correction for Low-Count Nuclear Images Simulating Pediatric Renal Imaging:

HHHiromitsu HoshinoSSSuzue Sato

Key Points

  • This study aims to quantitatively evaluate the risk of miscorrection during motion correction in pediatric renal imaging under low-count conditions.
  • Utilized a stationary NEMA IEC body phantom to simulate pediatric renal imaging conditions.
  • Assessed motion correction software's impact on image quality under low-count scenarios.
  • Identified significant miscorrection risks leading to image degradation in low-count nuclear images.
  • Quantitative analysis demonstrated that statistical noise was often misinterpreted as motion, affecting image clarity.
