The Hy-Result web application demonstrates high real-world compliance with 3-day home blood pressure monitoring schedules, supporting its use in routine clinical practice.
Objective: To assess real-life compliance with home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) schedules using data from the Hy-Result web application.Design and method: Hy-Result is a validated self-management program endorsed by the French Society of Hypertension (SFHTA) and the Belgian Hypertension Committee (BHC). It supports adherence to HBPM protocols by providing automated interpretation of blood pressure (BP) readings based on the user's medical profile and European Society of Hypertension (ESH) guidelines. Users record morning and evening systolic/diastolic BP (SYS/DIA) over 1 to 7 consecutive days to generate a report. A total of 27,620 reports (788,981 SYS/DIA BP readings), were analyzed. Compliance was assessed according to three schedules: A) > 15 consecutive readings; B) > 18 readings over 3 days (SFHTA); C) > 20 readings over 5 days (ESH). Results: Population: Among users, 67% (n=18,405) were treated for hypertension, two-thirds of whom had uncontrolled BP (mean>130/80 mmHg). Men represented 58% of the population; 46% were aged 14–65 years and 42% 66–80 years. Mean BMI was 26.6. Type 2 diabetes was present in 13%, chronic kidney disease in 7.9%, and 6.7% were smokers. Overall compliance reached 91% (n = 25,148) for schedule A, 87% for schedule B, and 47% for schedule C (details in Fig 1).. Compliance was significantly higher in treated versus untreated patients across all schedules (p 3 uses) compared with first-time users. Persistent users also had a lower prevalence of smoking (3.9% vs 10%, p < 0.001). Comparison of BP averages calculated using different compliant schedules showed no meaningful differences, supporting the validity of shorter HBPM protocols. Conclusions: In a real-world setting, the Hy-Result app demonstrates high compliance with HBPM schedules in line with current guidelines. This validated self-management tool may be recommended for routine clinical practice.
