ABSTRACT A dual Ru/Cu catalytic strategy has been developed for the efficient synthesis of quinoline‐appended imidazoles, benzimidazoles and quinoline‐fused γ‐lactones. This approach involved the Ru/Cu‐catalyzed oxidation and TfOH‐mediated imidazole formation. Likewise them NaBH 4 ‐mediated cyclization under mild conditions, delivering γ‐lactones in good to excellent yields with a various substrate scope. Electrochemical studies revealed a significantly lower Δ E p value, indicative of enhanced electron‐transfer behavior. Photophysical investigations demonstrated were pronounced aggregation‐caused quenching (ACQ) effects and further supported by particle size analysis. These findings highlight the potential of the synthesized N ‐heterocycles for their applications in sensing and optoelectronic materials.
