ABSTRACT Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are one of the leading causes of death in Malaysia with up to 17% medically certified death caused by CVDs. This phenomenon has made CVDs as one of the public health challenges in Malaysia due to lack of public awareness as well as unhealthy lifestyles. Alongside the growing number of CVDs patients are the growth of communication technology that could help in spreading the awareness on the risks of CVDs as well as its factors. Despite that, it was found that there was significant number of misinformation on CVDs on social media which leads to a number of confusions on the diseases. The main objective for this study was to develop and propose a conceptual framework by incorporating digital platforms in spreading awareness and knowledge on CVDs. This study incorporates a systematic literature review while integrating social media sentiment analysis and interviews with healthcare workers as well as anaslysis on existing websites in a multi‐faceted expert‐centered design methodology. It was found from the interviews that refined content should be the priority for the website as well as accessible information on CVDs factors alongside a user‐friendly interface. This, results in a prototype with interactive tools such as CVD risk calculator as well as information validated by experts and a structured and user‐friendly website, which may provide a practical solution in improving CVDs literacy in Malaysia.
