Abstract

This paper assesses the factors influencing the adoption of rooftop innovations in urban Southwestern Nigeria, with a view to improving the adoption of rooftop innovations and performance in the study area. Primary data were collected through the administration of a questionnaire to 384 homeowners in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Oyo states, out of which 305 questionnaires were retrieved and found suitable for analysis. The results show that aluminium long span accounted for 24.8% of rooftop innovation adoption among users. The result from the partial least square structural equation model (PLS-SEM) shows that effort expectancy (t = 2.879; p<0.05), hedonic motivation (t = 5.545; p<0.05), and price value (t = 3.141; p<0.05) are the three factors that have a significant effect on homeowners' adoption of rooftop innovations. The study concludes that ease of installation, utility derived, and cost of rooftop innovations significantly influence rooftop innovations adoption by homeowners in Nigeria.
