Abstract

This paper resolves the classical physics paradox of water ascent in tall trees using MID/QC primitives. Capillary action and cohesion–tension theory fail to explain how redwoods sustain a 300‑foot water column without cavitation. We show that xylem geometry creates torsional lock‑ins, leaf transpiration establishes coherence minima, and polarity gradients bias directional flow. These mechanisms form a stable tension‑driven coherence transport system that suppresses cavitation and defines the natural height limit. The paper anchors the Nature Series and demonstrates substrate‑level physics in biological systems.
