Late presentation, diagnostic limitations, and reliance on salvage arthroplasty mark SCD-related osteonecrosis in Africa. Strengthening early detection, expanding capacity for joint-preserving interventions, and generating robust regionally relevant evidence are critical to improving outcomes in this high-burden, resource-constrained setting.
