Diseases of the bronchopulmonary system represent one of the major problems in modern healthcare. Among them, pneumonia in children remains one of the most urgent issues in pediatrics due to its high prevalence, clinical heterogeneity, and the risk of complications. The disease is characterized by an acute infectious lesion of the pulmonary parenchyma with the development of inflammatory and infiltrative changes. Of greatest practical importance is the classification of pneumonia according to the conditions of its onset, distinguishing community-acquired and hospital-acquired forms. Modern approaches to the management of children with community-acquired pneumonia are based on early diagnosis, a personalized choice of antibacterial therapy taking into account age and risk factors, and the rational use of antibiotics. The introduction of molecular biological diagnostic methods and prognostic models contributes to improving treatment efficacy, reducing the incidence of complications, and enhancing clinical outcomes
