Urban Lagos faces significant challenges in early childhood development due to socio-economic factors such as poverty and limited access to educational resources. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to analyse data from a sample of 150 families participating in these programmes over two years. The analysis revealed that participation in the community-based programmes had a statistically significant positive impact on family literacy scores, with an estimated mean increase of 20% (95% CI: 10-30) compared to non-participants. Community-based early childhood development programmes are effective in improving family literacy among urban poor families in Lagos, Nigeria. Further research should focus on scaling up successful programmes and identifying barriers to participation to ensure equitable access for all families. family literacy, community-based programmes, urban Lagos, early childhood development Model estimation used =argmin_ᵢ (yᵢ, f_ (xᵢ) ) +₂², with performance evaluated using out-of-sample error.
