This chapter was written in February/March 2022. It assesses how the UK’s departure from the CEAS has impacted on the UK’s asylum/migration policy in light of Brexit. (Home Office, 2020). This chapter will also examine the UK’s relationship with the EU on asylum/migration related matters prior to the end of the Brexit transition period. It will then consider the implications that Brexit has had on the UK’s asylum/migration policy. To date no agreements have been reached on the future partnership between the UK and the EU. The UK has instead drafted the Nationality and Borders Bill 2021 that outlines a dangerous future relationship with the EU on asylum/migration issues, which this chapter examines in some detail.
