As the construction industry is increasingly reducing resource consumption and waste, modular construction (MC) presents a key opportunity for enhancing circularity. Present research, however, has been focused on optimising production processes, instead of enabling efficient reuse of materials and components. This hinders an exploitation of the full potential of MC to create a circular material flow. Since realisation of circular material flows necessitates close collaborationof various stakeholders in the supply chain network, state-of-the-art knowledge on information sharing and circular processes in the construction industry is synthesised from a supply chain perspective. Furthermore, a Circular Asset Management System (CAMS) comprising a Peer-to-Peer information system and digital tools is proposed. This information system is intended to build upon existing information containers and inform digital tools supporting decision making, thus providing the means to track and trace modular components cycling repeatedly through the supply chain.
