This article, the result of research, describes the process of analyzing the performance of the managerial role, considering its management in public and private educational institutions in the country, based on the implementation of leadership strategies. It focuses on identifying the models of school management and leadership styles in school management in public and private institutions in the country, characterizing the professional profile of school principals, describing the performance of the managerial role in them and proposing leadership strategies for success in the school context. A descriptive research with a quantitative approach was implemented. Among the most relevant conclusions of the study, the need for an improvement towards an adequate training process to meet an effective profile in the role of teaching director is highlighted, so it is recommended to promote that, from the current educational directions, resources are invested and managed in the continuous training of the teacher, as an act of interest from the directors and the same institution, so that the continuous development, both professional and intellectual, of the teachers is projected, as a relevant part within the educational context, in the constant construction of certified and endorsed knowledge; avoiding leaving the acquisition of this profile only to experience.
