Chronic spontaneous urticarial (CSU) is a common disorder characterized by pruritic swelling and/or angioedema lasting more than six weeks. Autoimmune mechanisms are involved in the pathogenesis of CSU. Interleukin (IL)-35 is a regulatory T (Treg) cell-derived cytokine associated with suppression of helper T (Th) cells subsets that modulate Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg balances; and is decreased in autoimmune conditions. The present study investigated serum IL-35 levels in CSU patients compared to healthy controls.
