The present study aims to provide a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the features of Finnish as a Foreign Language as emerging from data in the L1 Russian subcorpus of the International Corpus of Learner Finnish. The purpose of this article is to put forward a taxonomy for the annotation of learners’ errors, followed by quantitative and qualitative observations on the most common error types. The present study aims to shed some light on the features of Finnish spoken by learners outside of Finland (Finnish as a Foreign Language) and on the Finnish spoken by learners of a Slavic language (Russian).
