In Chile, the national and international funding for property restoration initiative is an essential strategy to mitigate the effects of climate change and prevent forest fires. This ethnographic study analyzes a specific case through on-participant observation in community meetings and field visits, which allowed evaluation of the dynamics and results of post-fire restoration projects. The findings show that the short duration of the projects (around 3 years) would limit their impact. In addition, the lack of integration between the restoration of native species and fire prevention actions makes it difficult to achieve the main objective which is to augment carbon sequestration. Also, an unequal distribution of benefits was observed that would affect people who do not have internet, who live in remote places and without contacts that include them in the applications.Despite the limitations, local leadership and committed teams have been key to sustaining these initiatives.
