Single use plastics or disposable plastics produced for short term use before discarded means littering around the surroundings takes hundreds to millions of years to degrade naturally which results in large negative impact on health of the individuals. To reduce this use of SUPs developing and producing edible cups as sustainable alternatives which contribute environmental hygiene, affordability and market production availability. In this regard a study was carried out on knowledge of edible cup usage and their environmental and health benefits over 150 respondents randomly in Andhra Pradesh through a cross-sectional online survey. The findings revealed that the majority of the respondents are students and working individuals with higher educational qualification of limited knowledge expressed positive attitude and strong willingness towards usage edible cups. The participants suggested that market production of edible cups need to be increased which leads to large scale usage of the products. The survey results promising that we can create awareness programmes and encourage small scale enterprises to promote the production and manufacturing of edible cups after standardizing and testing raw materials.
