Parliamentary committees of inquiry is constitutional mechanism designed to exercise parliamentary control over government action by investigating specific situations within state institutions and revealing any irregularities. This article examines the effectiveness of these committees as a means of monitoring and holding the government to account. The analysis highlights the structural and legal limits to their operation. Using structural-functional and legal-institutional methods, the article reveals that these commissions fail to fulfil their role to the full, due to restrictive legal provisions that reduce their impact. This compromises their ability to directly influence government action, calling for a far-reaching reform of the legal framework to enhance their effectiveness.
