Abstract

Afro-linguistics is a field that studies African languages within the broader discipline of linguistics. The Niger region, with its diverse linguistic landscape, presents unique opportunities for comparative study. The study employs a comparative approach using data from fieldwork conducted by researchers with expertise in Niger's linguistic communities. Data collection includes documentation of grammatical structures, vocabulary comparisons, and interviews with speakers of different indigenous languages. A multidisciplinary team analyzes the collected data to identify patterns and variations. A specific finding is the consistent use of postpositions in several Nigerien languages, which represents a significant thematic feature across these languages. This finding underscores the importance of systematic comparative analysis in understanding linguistic diversity. This study highlights the rich tapestry of African language structures in Niger and provides insights into their historical development and cultural significance. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies to track changes over time within these languages, as well as cross-cultural comparisons between Nigerien languages and other African linguistic groups.
