In a world characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity—often referred to as a VUCA environment- the concept of digitalization, resilience, and sustainability has attracted considerable attention. Thus, incorporating those paradigms enables the exploration of viable supply chain performance regarding disruptions. As viability in terms of digitalization, resilience, and sustainability has acquired global attention in supply chain management, this factor merits special consideration in the supplier selection process in the VUCA world, as it is full of uncertainty and ambiguity. Thus, this paper considers the existing issues and provides a decision-making system based on Fuzzy set theory, particularly the fuzzy inference system, for viable suppliers’ evaluation and selection. The proposed model is conducted through a MATLAB simulation to analyze and demonstrate the effectiveness of the fuzzy inference system for evaluating supplier viability in a case study. Therefore, the study is useful for both academics and practitioners as it provides a supplier selection system considering different paradigms in digital supply chains to achieve viable performance.
