In this study, PM emitted from unsteady pool flame of iso-octane on a shallow dish under various ambient temperature conditions (25 – 700°C) was investigated as fundamental study of fuel film combustion. Flame appearance from ignition to extinguishment under various ambient temperature conditions was observed. Further, total number and total mass of PM emitted from the flame during the flame formation period were measured. As a result, the PM number concentration increased with increasing of flame length. Further, it was found that both total number and total mass of PM increased with ambient temperature rise. In addition, with increasing ambient temperature, the total number of particles larger than 23 nm and the total mass of particles larger than 43 nm exhibited high values, whereas the number of particles in the 10–23 nm remained the same.
