Metal passivator technology is the most widely adopted strategy for inhibiting heavy metal poisoning in catalytic cracking. In this study, a simple, efficient, and environmentally friendly multifunctional additive has been developed by selecting non-toxic components. The mechanism of action of this additive was characterized via TPR, BET, and XRD, and its performance was evaluated in a catalytic cracking riser unit. The results demonstrate that the multifunctional additive reduces dry gas yield by 0.40 percentage points, hydrogen yield by 15.8%, coke yield by 1.09 percentage points, and heavy oil yield by 0.45 percentage points. Concurrently, gasoline and overall light oil yields increased by 2.18 and 2.87 percentage points, respectively. The additive exhibits excellent efficacy in suppressing Ni and V poisoning while optimizing product distribution.
