Some aspects of the operation of the northern territories are considered. The geographical features of the largest country on our planet, as well as the sparsely populated northern territories and the lack of roads, suggest the use of only seasonal transport to supply fuel, machinery, components, construction materials and essential goods. In the Omsk region, river vessels are such a type of transport, however, the round-the-clock presence of crew and staff on them causes certain problems related to occupational diseases and injuries and affecting the efficiency of the crew and staff, which, in turn, affects the continuity of northern delivery and the living and working conditions of people in the north, which are cut off from supply sources for most of the year. The main sources affecting the health and efficiency of the crew of the northern delivery vessels are considered, primarily harmful production factors (increased noise and vibration, microclimate parameters, insufficient intensity of natural and artificial lighting, electromagnetic fields in industrial and residential areas of the river fleet vessels), as well as the intensity and severity of the labor process. A comparative analysis of occupational diseases and injuries among the employees of the water transport enterprises of Omsk and the Omsk region, which has been recorded for several years, has been carried out. In addition to the existing ones, a number of additional measures have been proposed to reduce injuries and occupational diseases on ships. The effectiveness of personal protective equipment for riverboat crews and their actual compliance with the requirements of industry standards is analyzed. The article will be useful for managers of inland waterway transport enterprises, as well as for responsible persons who supply supplies within the framework of the northern delivery, and students of specialized specialties, specialists in ensuring safety when working on river fleet vessels with long periods of stay on board a vessel without going ashore for rest and rehabilitation.
