While energy healing literature often focuses on technique, modality, and practitioner skill, far less attention has been given to a variable that may most determine client outcomes: the cognitive and somatic state of the receiver. This paper introduces cognitive receptivity — a relaxed, open, and allowing state that mirrors what psychology calls the suspension of disbelief — as a prerequisite for effective energetic transformation. Drawing from neuroscience, polyvagal theory, placebo research, and feminine–masculine polarity principles, this paper argues that healing requires a temporary release of cognitive resistance, allowing the nervous system to enter a state of safety, openness, and feminine-mode receptivity. The Energy Intelligence Method™ framework is applied to demonstrate how intention, sovereign choice, and trust function as energetic gates that either allow or restrict the flow of healing. Case studies illustrate how control, over-analysis, and masculine-mode hypervigilance block transformation, while softening into feminine receptivity accelerates energetic release. The paper concludes by proposing that the suspension of disbelief is not psychological naïveté, but a neuroenergetic condition — and a conscious, sovereign act — that makes transformation possible.
