Women with aggressive or relapsing blood cancer or bone marrow failure may be treated with a haematopoietic stem cell transplant. Depending on their age and on the conditioning regimen they may have undergone before the transplant, they will be at risk of developing early menopause or primary ovarian insufficiency. They will also be at risk of vulvovaginal graft-versus-host disease. These conditions can have significant negative effects on women’s sexual health, recovery and quality of life. This article describes the setting up and delivery of a virtual nurse-led clinic for women who have received an allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplant, with the authors discussing a service evaluation undertaken to assess patients’ satisfaction with the clinic and whether it met their educational needs.
