This article is a synthesised literature review and comparative analysis of 13 papers covering the concept of digital literacy and the various interpretations of these concepts in library and information science in diverse geographical locations. The studies approached the convergence of digital and information literacy, technology access, professional development, and institutional strategy using a variety of research approaches: correlational survey methods, scoping reviews, mixed-method research, case studies, and experimental research. Results showcase that users and library professionals have regarded access to information and technologies as core competencies. Lacking sufficient funding, poor infrastructure, absence of provincial training programs, and staff phobia, and in users and technophobia barriers within themselves, creates gaps to the development of digital literacy.
