Industrial democracy can be attributed to one of the forms of direct democracy, associated with elements of direct democracy. In Russia, the development of various democratic institutions in the field of wage labor is becoming particularly relevant, taking into account historical and foreign experience. The purpose of the study is to develop proposals aimed at improving the mechanism for the development of industrial democracy in the field of wage labor in the Russian legal field. To achieve this goal, the following tasks are envisaged: to analyze the historical development of the idea of industrial democracy in Russia and abroad; to assess the features of the development of industrial democracy in foreign countries; to identify the advantages and disadvantages of various legal approaches to the development of industrial democracy in different legal systems. In the course of the work, general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, static and dynamic methods, inductive and deductive ways of thinking), as well as private scientific (historical, sociological, statistical) and special legal methods (comparative law, technical law, method of interpretation of law) were used. As a result of the conducted research, it was determined that the introduction of production councils into the system of wage labor organization can become a promising modern trend in the development of industrial democracy. To make effective use of this potential, it is proposed to legislate the provision that the production council should be created on a parity basis by the employer and employees, as well as to provide for the mandatory presence of production councils at all enterprises with more than 100 employees.
