Climate change and global warming are the most serious issues in the world. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are the main cause of these problems. These emissions are generated by everyday activities. There are many sources that contribute to carbon emissions in the environment, such as transportation, industries, and factories. Among these, educational institutions, including colleges and universities, contribute significantly through their daily operations. The purpose of this paper is to introduce Ecotrace, a carbon footprint accounting tool that has been specifically designed for colleges and educational institutions to manage their carbon footprint effectively by measuring, monitoring and reducing them. The proposed methodology utilizes OCR to convert unstructured data from scanned documents into machine-readable text. The extracted information is then processed and structured for further analysis and storage. By providing structured data collection, emission calculation and analytical insights. The system assists colleges in discovering hot spots and developing informed strategies to decrease their total carbon footprint through data-driven monitoring.
