Professional Commitment and Effective Criteria for Teacher Education in the Light of NEP 2020

This study explores the role of professional commitment and effective criteria in teacher education with special reference to the National Education Policy 2020. A professionally committed teacher is not only knowledgeable in subject matter but also skilled in pedagogy, ethical practices, and student-centered approaches. The study highlights that teacher commitment significantly influences student learning outcomes and overall educational quality. NEP 2020 emphasizes the development of competent, reflective, and well-trained teachers through continuous professional development, integrated teacher education programme, and the use of technology. The findings suggest that strengthening professional commitment and improving teaching standards are essential for achieving quality education.
