Grid-forming (GFM) inverter controls have illustrated many desirable features to enable the bulk integration of renewable resources into the future power grid. However, the GFM inverters during voltage faults are prone to overcurrent issues. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an integrated control strategy based on the reactive power loop and voltage loop reset. This method incorporates reactive power loop reset and other improvement strategies on the basis of the d-axis current limiter, achieving both the rapid current response during faults and the desaturation of the current limiter after fault recovery. Simulation and experimental results verify the correctness of the theory and the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
