Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken to preserve, by record, the condition of the castle wall before, during and after the anchors were installed. Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at Waytemore Castle, The Causeway, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, during the installation of walled anchor points around the base of the castle walls. Waytemore Castle is an 11th-century motte and bailey castle (NHLE 160900 & 1009940), and the installation of anchor points required the drilling of 19 holes, each 0.06m in diameter by 0.5m deep. A photographic record was made of each section of wall before drilling, after drilling and after the hole was filled. No damage to the castle occurred outside that identified in the methodology of the proposed work.
